Luka Doncic : In Sunday night’s game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets, a really unprecedented occurrence took place. Immediately before to halftime, Mavericks guard Luka Doncic buried a long-range attempt. It was decided that Doncic had stepped out of bounds before shooting the ball, after a review of the play at halftime. Doncic’s shot was so disallowed and time was added to the clock.
All of the players had already gone into the locker rooms by the time the overturned basket was played, therefore the last two seconds of the first half were played just before the start of the third quarter. As time expired, Nuggets forward Vlatko Canar sank a 3-pointer from far beyond the half court line.
The schedule of events is shown below :
Six points were changed in a hurry thanks to the removal of a Doncic three-pointer and a Canar basket. With a final score of 98-97, the Nuggets prevailed. A game’s fate can’t be determined by a single play, but that turn of events surely changed the course of this one.
To be fair, Doncic did not seem to agree that his made shot before halftime should have been nullified. “Videos were seen by me. There’s no indication that it came close to crossing the line “Says Doncic after the game. The phrase “my heel was up” describes my position well.
However, this is what Canar had to say about the attempt:
Canar and Denver will always remember that shot, and the game it won, but Doncic and Dallas would be better off forgetting it. They’ll play each other again in a few weeks, on December 6 in Denver.
