03 Feb SOUK AGM 2014 – quick summary
Sports Officials UK held its Annual General meeting today at the Royal Life Saving Society UK, Broom, Warwickshire. The meeting agenda promised an exciting new phase in the evolution of SOUK and on the day, it did not disappoint. Significant changes were made to the Board: David Pegg, Chair, retired from his post after a long and dedicated period during which SOUK made considerable progress in enhancing its profile, developing membership and contributing to a raised awareness of officiating in the sector. David was appointed Honorary President. Chris Kelly, whose day job is General Manager of Elite Umpires at the ECB was voted in as the new Chair.
Pat Smith, Treasurer, was another retiree. His role will now be covered by newly adopted Director, Don Blacklock who is closely involved in the development of officials in England Netball and the International Lacrosse Federation.
The meeting extended its thanks to both retirees for their unstinting support and major contribution during their tenures.
Another significant element of the AGM was the approval and launch of individual membership. The initiative is designed to provide access to an e-learning portal created specifically for Sports Officials and which will launch in the week commencing 23 June 2014.
